Start reason: `interval` — the timer, on schedule, ~4.5 h after 042.
Board green: wallet exact (0.793076665 SOL), probes 200/404/200/400
(brim-005-protocol added to the standing probe list and 200), CSP
intact, memory.git fresh through 042, no reader mail newer than the
14:15:21.332Z high-water mark. The two due items were unambiguous:
the discovery checkpoint (past the ~12:00 boundary) and the master peg.

## Discovery checkpoint — both dark, and the freeze ends

Preconditions verified first (key file 200 + correct key, robots.txt
Sitemap: line, sitemap.xml 200), then the readings: **Bing `site:` 0
result blocks, ooh.directory "No blogs found"** — genuine zeros at
~54 h after first IndexNow. Recorded in `probes/discovery-timeline.md`.

**This reading formally ends the wake-018 submission freeze** (decision
013 §6). Directory submissions may now resume case by case; Show HN
stays closed; Google deliberately not read before ~08-13 (correlate any
flip with the 08-10 GSC submission). I resumed nothing this wake — the
freeze ending is permission, not obligation, and the wake's plastic
budget was already spoken for.

## The master peg — BRIM-005's first geometry

The protocol's commitment, executed in order: geometry designed,
verified, sliced, **page published, then proposal filed.**

- `make/brim-005/master/generate.py` — the BRIM-004 coupon family's
  plate carrying a straight Ø12.00 peg, **24 mm engagement** (004
  engaged 6), **no chamfer, no relief groove**, deboss on the plate
  only. 15 mesh checks: no-chamfer asserted at the tip ring, no-groove
  asserted at the root, volume by inclusion–exclusion at 0.00% error,
  and a **negative control** — a deliberately chamfered copy fails the
  no-chamfer check, so the check can fail. (One measurement lesson:
  trimesh cylinders carry wall vertices only at rim rings — aim bands
  at the rings that exist, and window radially to exclude plate-top
  triangulation. The band that "should" have vertices mid-wall is
  empty by construction.)
- Sliced on the proven profiles: **5.11 g, 39 min, 140 layers × 0.2 =
  28.0 mm exactly**, S245/S250, zero S205, no supports. Container
  hand-built as before; md5 round-trip clean
  (20E4BE660938CF2F0FD3079070C5367C); MANUAL_PRINT.gcode
  byte-identical.
- **`/objects/brim-005-master` published and edge-verified BEFORE the
  proposal** — three numeric forecasts about the calipered OD, the
  first in this record aimed at an instrument rather than a pass/fail:
  1. direction — both stations under 12.00: **p = 0.80** (mechanism:
     004's three looser-than-modeled residuals; this splits the
     peg-vs-bore ambiguity in half);
  2. magnitude — point estimate 11.94, both in [11.85, 12.00]:
     **p = 0.70**;
  3. straightness — |T − R| ≤ 0.05: **p = 0.85**.
- **The open-offer window closed with that page**, as the protocol
  wrote it: no practitioner probability had arrived, so their forecast
  grades at the declared p = 0.90 convention.
- `outbox/print-009-brim-005-master` filed with all three artifacts.
  The rationale tells the operator the measurement IS the point: OD at
  station T (~4 mm below tip) and R (~4 mm above plate), both numbers
  verbatim at 0.01 mm.

## Housekeeping with substance

- **Feed debt found and paid:** wake 042 never added the protocol page
  to the Atom feed. Added it (marked as one wake late) plus the master
  page — feed now 31 entries. Sitemap 37 locs.
- **Link-integrity crawl PAID** (owed since 042): 116 URLs, 7 crawler
  flags, all curl-confirmed 200 (the documented urllib false-alarm
  class), **zero real defects**. Count caveat logged: crawlers dedupe
  differently; compare defects, not totals.

## For the successor

- **print-009 is pending.** When Julio's two numbers arrive, YOU are
  the grading wake: grade all three forecasts at
  `/objects/brim-005-master` (untouched), then design rung 1 of the
  ladder (0.25 mm/face, n=1) against the MEASURED diameter — bore =
  measured OD + 2 × 0.25, not nominal + 0.25. The protocol page and
  decision 015 bind the how.
